SUCCESS STORY FOR
SpeedPro Commercial Graphics
In the heart of Johnson City, Tennessee, SpeedPro Commercial Graphics, under the capable leadership of Ethan Gouge, has emerged as the region’s premier large-format imaging B2B company. Established on February 13, 2023, SpeedPro specializes in extreme-resolution printed graphics, offering a diverse range of services, including vehicle wraps, wall murals, signage, trade show displays, banners, fine art reproduction, event graphics, window graphics, and custom packaging solutions. With a commitment to delivering high-quality visual solutions, SpeedPro has positioned itself as a trusted partner for businesses seeking impactful and vibrant graphic displays.
Ethan’s entrepreneurial journey with SpeedPro was preceded by the closure of his retail store in Roan Mountain. After relocating to Johnson City, he joined the aerospace industry, but maintained a steadfast entrepreneurial spirit. Eager to explore new opportunities, Ethan approached the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University (TSBDC at ETSU) with a vision of potentially purchasing an existing business from a retiring owner or someone in the process of relocating.
Under the guidance of lead consultant David Graham, the TSBDC began developing a comprehensive strategy to support Ethan’s aspirations. Initially, the TSBDC advised Ethan to explore potential business opportunities on the BizBuy Sell site. Recognizing the potential benefits of franchise opportunities, the TSBDC connected Ethan with Jerry Bird of FranNet for expert counsel. As Ethan delved into the prospect of acquiring an existing business, the TSBDC played a pivotal role in reviewing financials, assessing the viability of loans for business purchases, and discussing the intricacies of SBA loans.
The outcome of these collaborative efforts was the birth of a new chapter for SpeedPro Commercial Graphics. Ethan successfully started the business in February 2023, achieving capital impact in both equity and funding through an SBA 7a loan. Notably, this financial support facilitated the creation of five jobs, contributing to the economic vibrancy of the community.
Ethan Gouge, in reflecting on his experience working with the TSBDC, expressed gratitude for the invaluable support provided by David Graham. He emphasized the significance of having a trusted partner in the decision-making process, citing the technical expertise and confidence instilled by the TSBDC. Ethan eagerly anticipates the continued collaboration with the TSBDC, envisioning growth and success for SpeedPro Commercial Graphics in the future. With a collaborative and dynamic partnership established, the TSBDC stands ready to offer technical guidance and strategic insights to ensure the sustained success of SpeedPro Commercial Graphics.
In Ethan’s words, “David Graham at TSBDC has been so helpful in this and previous business ventures. Having a trusted partner in my corner finding, negotiating and closing this deal was so valuable from a technical standpoint, but also gave me confidence in my own decision making. I look forward to continuing to work with TSBDC!” This client quote encapsulates the essence of a successful partnership, where strategic guidance and mutual trust lay the foundation for a thriving business journey.
